1938 ~ 2021

Sonia Jean Campbell, age 83, Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully from this earth life on Tuesday morning, August 3rd, 2021 at 11:00 am in her home after a having the strength of bearing the burden of a debilitating stroke. She was born January 2, 1938 in Fairview Utah, the third of five children to parents, Ross A. Slye and Rebecca Peterson Slye, and her beloved stepdad, Joseph Larson. Graduated from East High in 1956 and retired from the telephone company.

She met and married the love of her life, Elgie Gene Campbell in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on February 8, 1961.

Survived by her husband of 60 years; four children, Scott, Keith, Blaine (Maria Del Carmen) , Craig (Christina); 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; and her sister, Carol Bates.
Sonia is preceded in death by her parents and 3 siblings.

Sonia was always the life of the party, always a tease and had a comical story to share. She was a giver at heart, a true poet and story teller that loved to read and crochet. She truly treasured the successes of her children and grandchildren.

In the trial of her own heart, she will surely balance the scale in the afterlife against the feather of truth, and will always live within our hearts.

Funeral services will be held on Monday August 16, 2021 @11:00 am with a viewing Sunday August 15, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and again 1 hour before the funeral at the LDS Hunter 3rd Ward Chapel 3737 South 5600 West, West Valley City UT. Interment will follow at the Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park at Camp Williams, 17111 South Redwood Rd., Bluffdale, UT.
