Sonna K. Headrick

Sonna Kay Headrick, our beloved wife and grandmother, passed away on April 14 at the age of 70. She was born on June 10, 1952 to her parents, Leon Hedenstrom and Ardis Jorgensen Hedenstrom Beckstead.

Sonna was married to John Obrey, and later divorced. In January 2001, she married the love of her life, Layne Headrick and they spent many happy years together. She was a devoted wife, stepmother and grandmother to Layne's sons, Austin (Becky) and Sterling (Jessi).

Sonna's kind and generous spirit was felt by all who knew her. She had a deep love and respect for all animals, and her passion for caring for them was unwavering. In addition to her love for animals, Sonna also found great fulfillment in serving in multiple callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Over the years, Sonna dedicated herself to selflessly serving her loved ones, particularly her mother and father-in-law during their times of need. Her faith, compassion, and generosity impacted the lives of many, and her legacy will be one of love and kindness.

Sonna was preceded in death by her father, Leon Hedenstrom; her mother, Ardis Jorgensen Hedenstrom Beckstead; her step-father, Nello Beckstead; and her former husband, John Obrey. She is survived by her husband, Layne Headrick; her stepsons, Austin and Sterling; grandchildren, Brody, Oakley, Annistin, Rusty, Nash, Jase, Stella, and LJ; her siblings, Kent (Elizabeth) and Alton (Cindy); and niece, Abby.

A viewing will be held at Peel Funeral Home on Thursday, April 20 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, and again one hour prior to the funeral.

The funeral service will take place at the Elk Run Chapel on Friday, April 21 at 12:00 pm. All are welcome to come and honor her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a local animal shelter. Supporting an animal shelter would be a meaningful way to honor her memory. The family thanks you in advance for your kindness and generosity.
