Magna:  Assuutia, our angel, Sue Pasternak, passed away Friday evening the tenth of January. In her final days, she was surrounded by family and friends who helped her battle advancing age and its accompanying dementia. She was greatly loved by all who knew her. Her example of honesty, work ethic, sense of humor and Christ like love will continue to guide her family.  Sue was born on March 21, 1921, in Caramanico Terme, Italy and came to America at the age of 8 years old with her parents Angela and Nick Caruso.  She was a most gentle and honest woman who loved the remarkable achievement of life and all its surrounding, but most importantly she was a strong, dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She inspired us with her dedication to family and her strong work and religious ethics; her honesty and her willingness to speak the truth in love and kindness; and her optimistic approach to life. Her wonderful sense of humor and love of laughter have always been the hallmark of family gatherings. She was generous of spirit, willingly sharing the fruits of her labor with family, friends, and charitable causes.  She married Ted J. Pasternak in St Anthony's Catholic Church on June 16, 1940 in Joliet, Illinois.  She was well known by many and was a devout Catholic, a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Magna for over 60 years. Her parents instilled in her a love of family and church and Sue had an unwavering faith in God, saying the Rosary each day. She was young once, and beautiful--an 'incandescent' beauty...   We will always remember her as the perfect hostess presiding at our family gatherings, every celebration, with style, love, and complete happiness. Her home was a refuge of good taste from the cluttered world--every guest left refreshed and happier than when they arrived.

After their marriage, five kids were born and they later moved to Utah and she became a great homemaker and mother. She was an active woman who was proficient at cooking and baking. Sue had an infectious smile and always made everyone feel welcomed and loved. She loved her friends and family and had a great time going to senior luncheons, trips to Wendover, church functions or just hanging out at the house playing cards with her friends.  She will be missed by all who knew her.  She is now at peace, and is now elevated to a divine status and her love and spirit, that touched many lives, will live on.   May she find eternal rest and God bless her soul.  She will be greatly missed by all her who knew her. Survived by daughters, Betty (Bill) Klekas, Susanne (Rudy) Janusz; and son, Joseph (Victoria) Pasternak. Preceded in death by loving family members, Sue joins her loving husband, Ted; twin daughters; grandson, Grieg; brother, Walter (Cecilia) Pasternak , sisters, Mary "Rena" (George) Kunke, Eugenia (Stanley) Lasinis, Annie (late Vincent Dolasin and Nicholas) Ceriello, Helen (Joe) Jachemczak; her parents; father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Mary Pasternak.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, January 17, 2014 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic church, 2840 South 9000 West.  A viewing will be held Thursday 6-7 p.m. with a prayer service recited at 7 pm. at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. 2700 S., Magna, UT, and Friday 10-10:45 a.m. at the church.  Committal:  Mt Calvary Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests a contribution to Our Lady of Lourdes Church Building Fund, Magna, Utah.
