Susan L. Koonse Burkett

1920 - 2011

MAGNA-Our loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Susan Louise Koonse Burkett, 90, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born December 23, 1920in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Benjamin and Ruth Pitcher Koonse.  She married Emerson E. Burkett October 11, 1941 in Phoenix, AZ.  Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple September 6, 1950; Emerson passed away January 15, 1994.

Susan was a proud convert to the LDS faith and was an active member until her death, holding many positions.  She retired from Fred Meyers.

She is survived by four sons, Emerson (Maria) Burkett, Paul (Jolene) Burkett, Dave (Joy) Burkett, and Ralph (CJ) Burkett; 10 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Edward Koonse; and sister, Francis Mulky.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the Lake Ridge 4 ^th Ward, 3151 S. 7700 W.  Friends and family may call Friday 6-8 p.m. at Peel Funeral home, 8525 W. 2700 S., and Saturday 10-10:45 a.m. at the church.  Interment: Valley View Memorial park.  Online condolences: www.peelfuneralhome.com
