Thirza Ottley Jenkinson

1922 – 2022

Our loving mom, grandma, great-grandma and friend, Thirza Jenkinson passed away peacefully on February 10, 2022 in Salt Lake City; three weeks shy of her 100th birthday.

She was born at home in Oakley, Idaho on March 1,1922 to Frank Ottley and Margaretha Ann Thompson. She moved to Magna, Utah with her family when she was one year old and stayed her entire life. She loved her little town and was truly a ‘Magna girl’.

Thirza attended all the Magna schools from the old Hawthorne Elementary to Cyprus High School. She married Hardy Jenkinson on December 5,1944 in Magna, Utah and later it was solemnized in the Jordan River Temple. She traveled with him to many different places while he was in the United States Air Force. After Hardy’s discharge they settled in Magna to raise their family. They spent nearly 65 wonderful years together. During that time Thirza enjoyed many years as a Cyprus High School lunch lady and made many wonderful friends.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved her church and held various callings throughout the years. She lived life to the fullest and especially loved spending time with her family, and lunching and shopping with her girls and special friends. She also loved traveling, chocolate and Diet Coke! Our mom was one-of-a-kind... a strong, sweet, spunky lady who loved her life and everyone in it.

She was truly grateful for the blessings in her life and knew that the greatest blessing was the love of her family and all the loving and caring people who were part of it.

Thirza is survived by daughters Terri (Robert) Shepherd and Tracy (Lynn) Christofferson; grandsons Ryan (Alex), Braden (Keara) and Kole Shepherd; Derek (Kaitlyn), Cam (Samantha) and Jacob Christofferson. She had five great- grandkids; Kade, Oakley, Bodhi, Macklyn, Tai and a baby girl on the way. Her grandsons were the ‘loves of her life’.

Thirza was preceded in death by her husband Hardy, son Steven, parents, brothers and sisters.

A special thanks to Christian and Brio Hospice for their loving care of our mom. Also to The Wellington for all their love, care and support.
