Born in Jersey City, New Jersey on 27 July 1927, to Salvatore & Vencneza Conigilia Capitano. Tony was a decorated WWII and Korean War veteran; a consummate jokester who loved life, scuba diving, senior tours, reclining with his dogs and playing harmonica with the Kearns Harmoni-Katzz. He worked at Metallurgical Resources, Combine Metals, Intermountain Smelter and retired from Tri-Delta Surgical. He succumbed to Mesothelioma on 14 January 2011.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a son-in-law and is survived by his beloved sweetheart and wife of 53 years, Winnie Capitano; children Charlie (Elvira) Capitano of Wappingers Falls, NY; Richie Capitano; Terry L Bird, Lynn (Marvin) Graham; Karla (Jack) Bradshaw; many grand and great children as well as many singular friends.

Special thanks to Ed and Victor of Utah Hospice Specialists, Deacon Doug Biediger, The Kearns Senior Center for their love and prayers, the EMTs at the Kearns Unified Fire Station #109, Sally Loken of the VA, Terry Bird and Toni and Robert Netzler.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity benefitting animals or cancer research. Out of respect for friends and family, please no taking of photographs at the services.

A funeral mass will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, January 20, 2011 at St. Francis Church, 4501 West 5215 South, Kearns. Viewings will be 12-12:45 a.m. Thursday, prior to services and 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, where a Vigil will follow immediately after.
