Verdell “Robbie” Robinson passed away on the morning of September 8, 2018 following a life of hard work and dedicated service to God, Family, and Country.
Robbie was born in Panguitch Utah on May 10th, 1933 To Gilbert and Erma Ipson Robinson. He was the third of four children. He was raised in the town of Paragonah where he learned the values of hard work, honest labor, self-reliance, and service to others.
After graduation from Parowan High he served active duty US Army 1953-55 on the Korean Peninsula during the Korean War. Following the war he met and married Gloria Joy (Pat) Pettersson of Magna, and Magna is where he put down roots and raised a family of six children. Any “down time” dad had was filled with family camping, fishing, and hunting trips or supporting his children and grandchildren in their many activities. Robbie was a dedicated and dutiful husband for 60 years until Pat’s passing in Feb 2016.
Robbie had a deep love and appreciation of music and taught himself to play the guitar and harmonica. He also had a beautiful tenor voice and it was a real treat to listen to him pick the guitar and sing his favorite tunes especially at Christmas time where “Silver Bells” and “Christmas Island” were always on the play list.
Robbie was a skilled tradesman and could fix or build anything be it plumbing, electrical, mechanical or carpentry. He was a Master Electrician by trade and was employed by Granite School District for 33 years and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for several more. He enjoyed selfless service through his various church callings, scouting, and neighborly outreach. He and Pat served a senior couples mission in the Atlanta Georgia Mission.
Robbie is survived by his brother Boyd Robinson, sisters in-law Ruth Ann Robinson and Ann Pettersson, Children; Gordon (Leslie) Robinson, Emily Robinson, Pamela (Brad) Durfey, Todd (Charmian) Robinson, April Robinson Elsbury, Tracy Robinson, 13 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Dad, A grateful family thanks you for your love and service to God, Family, and country. Until we embrace again.
