Walter Burrell

Heavenly Father called home his faithful son Walter Earl Burrell on September 3, 2017.  Born in Butte, Montana, on January 22, 1954, Walter grew up with a love for the great outdoors, spending many hours fishing and hunting with his father James Burrell.  He was also a devoted son to his mother Alta Dorothy Reid, who taught him to love the Savior, selfless service to others, and instilled in him a passion for lifelong learning.  Walter grew up enjoying the companionship of his older brother Gary and younger siblings, Margie and Jim.   Honoring his parents’ example, Walter spent his life magnifying church callings, including serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Los Angeles, California, from 1973 to 1975.  He continued to serve throughout his life, even using his love and talent for wood carving and family history to help others and bring joy to their lives.

Walter married the love of his life, Kristy Layne, on January 9, 1976.  In the course of their life together they moved many places in the western United States, eventually settling among wonderful neighbors and friends in Magna, Utah.  Early in their marriage Walter and Kristy experienced the tragic loss of their first child Rachel Anne.   Walter and Kristy were richly blessed with four other children -- Kristy Lynn, Keith James, Adam Garald, and Emma Marie, who later welcomed Julie, Jen, and Aubree into the Burrell fold.  Adding to Walter’s joy were six grandchildren he adored:  Audrey, Savanah, Robert, Paityn, Porter, and Madisyn.  Surely Walter is keeping a close eye on them as he begins his service to others in the next life.

Family, friends, and colleagues are all welcome to join with the Burrell family in celebration of the life of Walter.  Funeral services will be Saturday, September 9 ^th at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 7960 West Dalesend Drive (2895 South) in Magna Utah, with a viewing preceding the funeral at 10:00-10:45 a.m.  An additional viewing will be held at the same location from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday evening, September 8 ^th . Interment: Tooele City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations be made to offset funeral costs.
