Yvonne Doxey Hess
Yvonne Doxey Hess peacefully passed away on January 14, 2013 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born to Lawrence W. and Ines E. Doxey on May 11, 1926 in Ogden, Weber County, Utah. She married Donald C. Hess on June 26, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in the MIA, Relief Society, Primary, and Name Extraction Program. She and Don were dedicated workers for several years in the Jordan River Temple. She also enjoyed the knowledge and camaraderie she gained as a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
Yvonne dedicated her life to the service of others. In addition to her various church callings, her divine nature was demonstrated as she cared for everyone she knew unconditionally. She would often take time to talk with others, send out birthday cards, letters, bouquets of flowers, Rice Krispy cakes, and her famous homemade "Scrubbies". She was loved by all!
She is survived by her four children: DeVon Timothy (Bob) of West Valley, Marion Carver (Brad) of West Jordan, Arden D. Hess (Gail) of West Valley, and Layne D. Hess of Park City. Brothers and sisters: Maryann Farnsworth (Robert) of West Valley, Evans (Tim) Doxey (Marlene) of West Valley, Lawry E. Doxey (Bonnie) of Aurora, Colorado, and Kareen Harkness (David) of Las Vegas, Nevada. Grandchildren: Robbie, Trent, Cami, Elise, Graham, Ashley, McKay, Anna, Zach, Lizz, Nick, Trisha, Shane, Katie, Amber, Mindy, Angie, and Brian. She also has 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Donald. Though we may grieve, we know their reunion is filled with love, joy and grace.
